Cynthia Whitfield, our longest-serving employee, has contributed to ICF’s successful journey from small venture capital firm to global consulting and technology powerhouse

In 2024, we’re celebrating 55 years of ICF. And we’re also honoring the anniversary of our longest-serving employee Cynthia Whitfield, who has been with the company for 50 of those years!

Over this time, Cynthia’s watched ICF grow from a 12-person venture capital firm that financed minority-owned businesses in Washington, D.C., into the global consulting and technology services provider we are today—with over 9,000 employees worldwide and nearly $2 billion in annual revenue.

Now a senior proposal design specialist, Cynthia has seen a lot of changes over the years—within ICF, in her life, and in the broader world around her. But one thing hasn’t changed: ICF’s culture and dedication to making the world a better place. She says, “I always believed ICF would be a successful company. I’ve never met a better group of people.”

We held an event to celebrate Cynthia’s 50th anniversary, which was emceed by ICF chair and CEO John Wasson and attended by Cynthia’s family and several current and former colleagues.

“Cynthia’s passion for ICF and pride in her work is admirable and truly inspires the people around her.”

During the event, John remarked, “I met Cynthia in the ‘80s and she’s impressed me ever since in how she’s touched lives, helped us win opportunities, and for the lasting impression she’s had on our organization. I’m honored to work alongside her.”

Other colleagues echoed his sentiments:

“Cynthia’s one of the most dedicated employees I’ve worked with.”

“I’m consistently impressed by her experience, intellect, and confidence in her work.”

“Cynthia’s always there when I need her.”

And “My favorite Cynthia is a no nonsense type of woman, and we all love her for that.”
