Eugene is a fatherhood and families expert with more than 20 years of experience strengthening programs for people involved in criminal and juvenile justice systems and managing outreach efforts for the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse. He also serves as a subject matter expert for the Juvenile Justice Systems Improvement projects and efforts to engage fathers and family leaders in the child welfare system.
Earlier in his career, Eugene was a presidential appointee of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he was responsible for coordinating outreach efforts to faith-based organizations. During his time at the DOJ, Eugene launched over $20 million to support reentry, children of incarcerated parents, AmeriCorps youth opportunity, and strengthening relationships between young fathers and their children programs.
Prior to serving in President Obama’s administration, Eugene worked as director of operations for Straight Ahead Ministries, a national faith-based juvenile justice organization in Greater Boston. He earned his undergraduate degree in Urban Affairs from Boston University.
