Nipunika Perera

Senior Managing Consultant, Clean Energy, Climate, and Development
Nipunika is an international development expert with over 12 years of experience designing and implementing inclusive, innovative, and resilient climate and energy transition strategies to achieve sustainable development.

Nipunika is a development and management expert specializing in clean energy access, climate mitigation, climate adaptation, nature, climate finance, and transportation. She integrates gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) into sustainable development and climate transition strategies. With extensive experience collaborating with clients, local partners, governments, and communities in Asia and Africa, she successfully designs and implements transformative projects and programs tailored to specific contexts.

Nipunika combines her background as a researcher and technical advisor to design and manage complex programs. Recently, she managed the UK Government funded PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) Green Recovery Challenge Fund which supported low-carbon and resilient transitions across ODA-eligible countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Nipunika leads projects and programs to implement just, equitable, and resilient climate solutions. She supports clients in integrating equality and inclusion considerations into technical projects and programs.

Nipunika has conducted extensive research on inclusive financing for energy access and has published several works on using public funds to catalyze private sector investments for energy access. Her research also focused on creating more enabling environments through policy and regulatory changes, and integrated energy planning.

Nipunika holds a master’s degree in sustainable energy engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK.
