Kim Johnson

Based in Austin, Kim Johnson leads the Blanton & Associates transportation group as a senior managing director. With more than 30 years of experience, she specializes in preparing and overseeing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for local, state, and federally funded transportation projects and other regulatory clearance.

Before joining the firm in 2000, she worked with Entranco preparing environmental documents for Maricopa County Department of Transportation projects and managing biological evaluations for the Arizona Department of Transportation. Prior to that, Kim worked for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), directing and assisting district personnel in the preparation of environmental documents for transportation projects located throughout the state. Additionally, she also worked with DLS & Associates Biological Consultants as project leader for all Travis County, Texas projects. 

Kim’s deep understanding of TxDOT processes, including her experience in public involvement documentation for hundreds of TxDOT projects across each district, helps to facilitate project coordination, acceleration, and clearance. She is involved in project management and environmental analysis for all phases of environmental compliance projects with an extensive background in performance-based planning studies, including constraints mapping and alternatives analyses, feasibility studies, master plan corridor studies, freight studies, environmental justice analyses, and Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) studies. 

In addition to serving as environmental lead on numerous winning contracts, Kim is also the recipient of the TxDOT Environmental Achievement Award.
