Trent Hone

Vice President of Technology and Product Innovation

Trent Hone is vice president of technology and product innovation at ICF. He has more than 25 years of technology and management experience helping teams learn, innovate, and deliver compelling solutions.

Trent Hone is vice president of technology and product innovation at ICF. He has more than 25 years of technology and management experience. Trent is a leader in the application of complexity science to organizational design and has used his skills to deliver compelling technology solutions, foster innovation, and promote sustained organizational learning.

Trent is currently spearheading technology innovation efforts at ICF including the use of generative AI, modern cloud architectures, and advanced analytics. He has previously employed his leadership and technology expertise at the World Bank Group, Fannie Mae, Progressive Insurance, Trimble Navigation, and the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Trent is an award-winning author who draws on a rich understanding of leadership styles and organizational design patterns. Trent’s articles have been awarded the Society for Military History’s Vandervort Prize, the U.S. Naval War College’s Edward S. Miller Prize, and the Naval History and Heritage Command’s Ernest M. Eller Prize. Trent’s book, Learning War, was the U.S. Naval Institute’s book of the year for 2018 and has appeared on reading lists from the U.S. Navy’s Chief of Naval Operations and the U.S. Marine Corps Commandant.

Trent is an accomplished speaker who regularly shares his knowledge of innovative techniques and approaches in a variety of conferences and forums. He has addressed the U.S. Naval War College, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, the Office of Naval Intelligence, the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr, and dozens of technology and history conferences.

Trent holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.
